Creating a Bill of Rights Movie

Performance Expectations  

The student will be able to identify the 1st Amendment to the Constitution and the responsibilities and rites that come with it. The student will be able to explain the role media plays in our society and identify the responsibilities and ethics that apply to them. Students will use Connected Tech in order to identify and explain the amendments from the Bill of Rights.

Learning Objectives:  

1. Discuss with the students the Constitution and the meaning of the 1st Amendment.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

2. Identify ten different types of media jobs connected to Journalism.

5. Take the First Admendment Quiz (You must get 10 out of 10).

6. Define the First Admendment in your own words.

7. Read the handout and answer the questions that follow.

Create a 3 minute digital video production about the Bill of Rights in either Movie Maker or One True Media, working in small groups. You will develop a story that illustrates the concepts within one admendment.
