Objective: This project includes five different black history projects. Students will learn about culture, clothing, create a collage and postage stamp, and create a calendar for the month of February.

TEKS: 1a, 1b, 1c, 1a-c, 8a-c

Project 1 - Black History Stamps - Create three Black history postage stamps. Be sure to include the price of the stamps, a black historian, and name of the Black historian on each stamp. This can be done in Microsoft Word or PowerPoint. Provide three facts about each historian.

Project 4 - African American Clothing - Search the following website and find ten different names of African American clothing: http://www.moderntraditional.com/magazine/african.html

Provide pictures for each item chosen. This can be done in PowerPoint.

Project 5 - Black History Month - Create a calendar for the month of February. Provide a Black historical fact for all 29 days of February. Also, include some pictures within each day. Complete this project in Microsoft Word.  http://www.theblackmarket.com/dates.htm

Project 6 - Black History Montage - Create a Montage at http://www.onetruemedia.com/. Pick "Amazing Grace" for your song  and collect and save as many black history pictures as possible. You may use the following website for names: http://www.aakulturezone.com/kidz/abc/contents.html

Extension: explain the history behind a black history song from the following website: http://www.osblackhistory.com/songs.php (scroll down towards the bottom of the website).

You should also provide music, lyrics of the freedom song, and pictures of black historians.
